tomorrow
recorded premortem in late 2002. around 2 and a half minutes in there's a sample of a circular saw - that's actually because when we were recording at that time in a less-than-soundproof bedroom studio, our neighbor was outside with one, and it just sounded like it belonged.

cocoon
a recording of our radio debut on 92.1 the buzz. the dj (just josh) summed up our sound better than i thought possible; as having a 'marilyn manson slash nine inch nails slash.. i don't know.. sam kinison vibe to it'

manifesto Nš eleven
\Man`i*fes"to\, n.; A public declaration of principles, policies, or intentions...

very ape
a nirvana cover recorded mostly in one take in august of 2003. kurt cobain couldn't be reached for comment (john lennon answered the ouija board and said he wasn't home).

gris gris giveaway

we videotaped the drawing of the winner for our gris gris giveaway (and other random things we did that day) and set it to a then-work-in-progress, "very much".

very much
probably the best out of the unreleased work. the beginning has a sample from a cassette tape my grandmother recorded of me at around 4 years old, plucking a detuned ukelele and singing 'how can anybody love you if the world is dead?' - i was a strange child.

highwayside blues
a bit of a departure from our other stuff, but probably one of our favorites to play. all the lead guitar work was improv, and we've never played it exactly the same way twice.

grind
an unfinished work from late 2005. it wasn't intended to be instrumental, but lyrics never got cut for it. it was written to fall inbetween cocoon and manifesto on the full-length album.

nothing new (under the sun)
we actually cut this song several times, and with two different guest vocalists. this is my favorite version.
what has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.
-ecclesiastes 1:9

brand new key
we recorded this melanie cover with a guest vocalist for the implicit purpose of having it as an mp3 download from the website. i've always enjoyed the 'stalker-esque' quality and the obvious innuendo of the original lyrics, so i was shooting to bring that out and make it happy-but-creepy.
